About Me
Musician - Composer - Voice Teacher - Reiki Practitioner - Storyteller
I grew up in a home full of music.
When I sing my children to sleep, I still hear my own mom’s voice in my head, singing the same melodies that soothed me as a child. Whenever I pick up my violin to play with others, I hear the sound of my dad’s guitar and I feel the same invitation to create, to listen, and to become part of something beyond myself.
I have always loved entering the space that music occupies. It’s there that I feel most free and fully myself.
I have spent my life seeking different ways to enter that creative space and experience the same sense of freedom and connection. At first, I followed what seemed like the most obvious paths: I played in orchestras, bands, quartets, studied music at university, and sang with different choirs. My skills as a musician grew, but something else began to change. The deeper I moved into the musical world, the more disconnected I became from what had drawn me to create in the first place.
Eventually, I experienced anxiety at a level that left me feeling completely detached from the world and unable to play my instrument. The violin, which had always been my access point to that creative space, was no longer accessible to me.
That experience set me on a long and rich path of healing.
I studied Reiki and meditation. And while I couldn’t play my violin, I discovered that I could still sing. I took voice lessons, explored the voice in new ways, and after meeting my wonderful husband, began a family of my own.
Becoming a mother cracked me wide open. I was, and still am, in awe of the vibrant lives we brought into this world. In those early years, I found myself pushed beyond the physical and emotional limits of my mind and body. I was often exhausted and caught in an intense internal struggle as I was forced to face and address some of my deepest personal difficulties.
The growth I have experienced since has been, all at once, painful, enlightening and incredibly gratifying.
[It was my voice, along with the guidance and presence of a few wonderful people who held space for me, that helped me find my way back to myself in the depths of my early mothering days. They listened deeply. They held space for me. They helped me see what was already within me. ]
My own strength.
My own wisdom.
My own voice.
And in time, I found my way back to the broader world of music too. I still compose, perform, and make music with others, including my own family. These experiences bring me a deep sense of joy and connection. I can enter that space again- the space where I feel fully present, free, and most myself.
Over the years, I have had many different kinds of opportunities to explore music and the voice. I have taught private violin and voice lesson, led children choirs and adult singing groups, and facilitated a number of other events to bring people together through sound and music.
I now know that creating these kinds of musical spaces is the work I want to offer others: to hold space so that they, too, can begin to hear themselves and recognize their own strength.
